Two rants in one day… I was going to roll them all into my dear mr. president part 1 rant… but I figured they would be better off in two different posts. The previous one was a few days brewing… this one I have been working on since yesterday. I have come to a point where I am almost ready to throw in the towel and its not good. I had alot of hope for our country when I went to the polls to vote in November. If you read the first part of this rant, then you know that I believe Barack Obama is a smarter and better man than our last President…. but after the Presidents speech last night, I am angry and upset. Not because of what he had to say about health care, but because of how he closed out the Q&A session afterwards. The last question he took was about the arrest of Henry Louis Gates Jr by the Cambridge, Massachusetts, police department.

After being asked about the situation, the president was quick to point out that he might be a little biased because Mr. Gates is a friend of his. He then went on to say “the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home”. Well Mr. President. You are biased and more than a little. From the reports I have read, the police officer involved was responding to a call by a neighbor that someone was breaking into the home in question. When he arrived, he asked to see Mr. Gates’ Identification and Mr. Gates refused. Other reports i have seen indicate that when Mr. Gates was asked to step out on the porch by the officer, he refused. Mr. Gates accused the officer of being a racist because he was called to investigate a possible break in. Opening the front door Mr. Gates exclaimed, “Why, because I’m a black man in America?”.

The police report shows that Mr. Gates was arrested for “loud and tumultuous behavior in a public space”. Now… Mr. President… My question to you is… who acted more stupidly in this situation? Sgt. James Crowley of the Cambridge Police Department… or your uppity piece of shit friend who believes he should be treated differently than every other person in this country either because he is rich.. or black..

Why would you feel the need to even voice your opinion on this matter? You clearly stated you didnt have all the facts… yet you were quick to chastise the Police saying they acted stupidly and further went on to call it racial profiling. This isn’t racial fucking profiling. A concerned neighbor made a call because she thought the house was being broken into and the police did their fucking job. All your friend had to do was show the officer his ID. Instead he pulled the race card and got an attitude with the cop. You know where I would be today had it been my house and I acted that way towards the cop when he wanted to see my ID? I would still be sitting in jail and I’m not black.

Just because your friend is black and has money doesn’t make him above the law and it doesn’t make it a case of racial profiling. Mr. Gates acted like a complete asshole to that cop who was trying to do his job and now the cop is being made out to be the bad guy. I read an article tonight in which Gates told CNN that although charges had been dropped, he will keep the issue alive saying: “This is not about me; this is about the vulnerability of black men in America,”.

This is about the Cambridge police being chastised for doing their job because some rich black guy has a stick up his ass and thinks he can act however he likes. Fuck that shit! And for the president to come out on prime time tv and state that even though he doesn’t have all the facts, the police acted stupidly pretty much sums up what I have been fearing about President Obama this past week or so and what I have written between this rant and the last. He is quick to act out of emotion rather than getting all the facts and making a judgment based on experience. Slow down Mr. President. Take some time to check your facts and start getting this shit right. The last guy we had went with his gut… you saw where that got us…

And to Mr. Gates. Go fuck yourself. You weren’t arrested because you are black. You were arrested because you are an asshole! Have some respect for the police. Maybe next time there is a report of a break in at your house the cops should just not even bother coming. Lets hope its not you calling to report it and lets hope you don’t need those same cops to come and protect your arrogant ass from some intruder. Instead of getting all up in the guys case, maybe you should have just shown him your ID and been done with it. He could have apologized for bothering you and told the woman who called there was no issue to worry about. Instead you became an arrogant raging asshole accusing him of being racist and in the end it blew up into something more than it had to. You Mr. Gates are a piece of shit and in my humble opinion should have been left in jail. If you were a poor white man, you would have been.
