Obama and his little woman enjoy going out on a date once a week. Seems innocuous enough. Many married couples enjoy spending time together. Isn’t that the reason they get married in the first place?

Last weekend, he took his wife to NY to see a play. Obviously it is a breath of fresh air that our newest president is cultured and enjoys these types of things. But…..

I watched a video of them heading to NY. They jumped on their helicopter and then they took a plane to NY. When they were going inside the theater, the street was lined with police for security. Obviously something necessary for a prominent public leader such as Obama. He and the wife wave and go inside to enjoy themselves and media reports claim they did just that.

This leads me to the point of my blog. People are losing their jobs every day. This is leading to epidemic homelessness. There was a video on cnn the other day about how people were living under bridges in California. When Obama took office, he stood on tv and told us all that he “gets it”. That the american people are suffering financially, yet it seems like all he does is spend money.

Exactly how much did that date with his wife cost the american tax payer?

I don’t know about you, but lately my finances have been suffering. The best “date” I’m getting is a night at the drive in for a double feature at $7 a pop. I don’t need a security detail, helicopters, planes, etc to take me there.

When I see Barack and his wife decked out in designer clothes, stepping out of a limo surrounded by secret service and local police it leads me to believe he really doesn’t “get it” at all.

As I was reading about his latest date, I realized that they’d also gone to “their favorite restaurant in illinois” on their last date and I couldn’t help but think, wait a minute. They live in a home where they have gourmet chefs, in a city that is full of high end restaurants and they had to fly to illinois for dinner? Forget the dinner tab, how much money was wasted flying them there and back and providing security?

I guess I should have known this would be the case when Michelle wore $500 sneakers to a homeless shelter to hand out food. I have to wonder if she even realizes what a slap in the face that is to someone who is down on their luck and living in an alley somewhere.

Don’t get me wrong, volunteering at a homeless shelter is a noble cause, but when you show up in clothes that cost more than most people make in a months time, it has to give you pause.

When Barack ran for president, he claimed he wanted to change things in Washington. I guess the change is turning out to be how much money he can spend and charge the American tax payer. I have nothing against the guy using the tools he’s provided, but not to fly half way across the country to eat dinner with his wife. Sorry.

As much as we all loved to hate president Bush, I never heard a news article claiming he spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to go out on a date, and then stuck us with the bill.

Wake up america. This president who claims to “get” you, certainly doesn’t act like he does.  Planting a garden and dishing out meals for photo ops does not a compassionate person make.

All this money the government is spending, has to come from somewhere and it’s going to come from YOU. So as you sit around ooooing and aaaahing at the gown Michelle Obama is wearing as she goes out on her 1/2 a million dollar plus date with her husband, look around at what you’ve got left. It might not be there for long.
