Why Does Every Show On TV Have To Showcase Homosexual Relationships?

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

I’m a fan of the HBO series Big Love. For the past few seasons it’s been a really good show. But now they’ve introduced this whole gay story line I can completely do without.

I watch very few tv shows any more and I find it so gross to have to watch two guys playing tonsil hockey every week right in the middle of them. Why is that even necessary? They even added gay crap to the Soprano’s towards the end and it left me thinking WTF? I guess that guy met a good ending tho.. castrated with his cock stuffed in his mouth.

I appreciate that gays want to appeal to their gay counterparts, but let’s be realistic here. The rest of us don’t want to watch soft core gay porn when we sit down to watch tv. It’s disgusting.

The funniest part is you almost never see lesbian relationships either. It’s always two gross guys ripping off each others clothes and falling into bed. Nasty!

Before you start thinking I’m some kind of religious nut with my ideals stuck in the 18th century, I’m not. I find religion to be one of the most retarded things people follow. I chose not to attend church and I do not believe in a magical man in the sky who created us all and manipulates our lives just for the fun of it.

The fact is, two guys having sex is gross. No one but another fag wants to watch that shit and it needs to find it’s way OUT of my shows. If I have to watch 2 guys fuck during Big Love much longer, I’m just going to stop watching it all together. There’s been more guy on guy sex scenes this season than I’ve seen Bill do his wives for all the prior seasons combined… or maybe it just feels that way because I find all male sex scenes to be anything but erotic.

When a guy looks at another guy, licks his lips and says, I can still taste you, it makes me want to puke. So come on HBO, tell your faggot writers that the 98% of your viewing audience that doesn’t like watching gay porn want this whole gay story to end. Fast. Maybe they can both end up with their dicks cut off and stuffed in their mouths like Vito Spatafore. I can only hope.

Sarah Palin calls for the next American Revolution

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

I am reading an article on CNN this morning about Sarah Palin’s speech to the Tea Baggers… or um Tea Party people… Ya know.. the new face the Neo-Con movement is trying to take on. You remember the Neo-Cons. Those ultra conservative ideologues who for the past 40 years or so have tried to slam their righteously moral beliefs down the throat of every American and the rest of the world as well. While at the same time ignoring the idea that those same principles apply to themselves. Those people who for 6 solid years had every opportunity to make America as great as they say it should be when they aren’t in control. Those same folks who nearly ran our economy and our standing in the world into the ground. Well, in Sarah’s speech to 600 or so of those folks, the people who have their noses so far up her ass they can taste what she ate for dinner last week. She said “America is ready for another revolution and you are a part of this”. Simply put. Sarah, if it’s a revolution you are aiming at. Prepare for a fight.

The real people of this country. The ones you think you represent are tired of the shit you are spewing in these speeches, on twitter and facebook. They are tired of the neo-con agenda. They are tired of the republican party and they are tired of the democratic party. Keep pushing for your revolution Sarah and you might just get what you want. The problem is, at least in your case, you wont be on top when it is over.

For 8 years we heard from the bush administration: If you aren’t with us, you’re against us. It’s good to see that you folks are still carrying on that motto. Except now that you aren’t in power, you have to make it out that the people running this country are the anti-American ones. I for one am tired of this line of attack. You are attacking your very own country. You are being anything but patriotic. You might not fully agree with everything that is going on. But, lets get one thing straight: President Obama (yes, he is our president and yours too) won the popular vote with nearly 10 million more votes than John McCain. Nearly 70 million people in this country voted for this president. How many people were at your event again? 600?

I don’t know about you. But, I love my country. I am proud of where I was born and I fly my American flag with pride. What I don’t love is someone trying to push their beliefs down my throat while telling me that I am with them or against them. I want someone in charge who is willing to listen to all sides and then make a judgment based on the facts rather than their gut, even if that decision isn’t the most popular one to make. I want someone in charge who is willing to address a problem with diplomacy rather than with might. I want a person who is in charge that is willing to put the country they are leading before their poll results. I want a leader. From what I have seen during the past year, that is exactly what I, what WE got in President Obama. I bet there are many, many more of those 70 million people that voted for President Obama who feel the same way. See, the thing is. We haven’t been whining about it on tv every other day like you because you lost and your neo conservative agenda is teetering on the abyss. The agenda that has pushed us to the breaking point, your agenda, is not one the majority of the people in this country want. I thought we spoke loud and clear when we elected President Obama with nearly 10 million more votes than John McCain. Maybe we weren’t clear enough…

So, Mrs. Palin. If it comes down to a revolution. Don’t overestimate your importance on the front lines. You might just be one of the first ones on the chopping block.

Lets Talk About Health Care Reform!

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

I’ve touched on this subject before, but this time will be different. This post isn’t going to be about the senate, the house or the president. It won’t include anything about republicans and democrats. This post is going to be about hospitals and doctors.

Grab a cup of coffee. This is bound to end up being a long entry.

My grandfather is 83. He’s not your typical 83 yr old guy with all kinds of problems that prevent him from functioning. He mows his own lawn, plants his own garden, shovels snow off his own driveway.. is as vibrant and functional as any man would hope to be at his age.

Apparently, back in his 60’s he was told he had a bad heart valve and needed it replaced. He didn’t. Years rolled by and he kept telling his doctor, I’ve lived this long with it and I’m still here. Surgery is unnecessary.

I should also include here that like most men who were from the WW2 era. My grandfather smoked. He quit over 20 years ago, but he still did it for a long time. This caused him to have COPD as well.

Once he got up into his 80’s, he started having a harder time doing the things he enjoyed. He would even get winded walking out to the end of the driveway to get the paper or the mail. So he started seriously considering this heart valve operation. From what I am told, his cardiologist told him that having it replaced, would alleviate the breathing problems he was experience.

Now, I’m not a doctor, but if a guy smoked for 40 years and has emphysema, wouldn’t *that* logically be the cause of a man getting short winded? Seems like that makes way more sense than a leaky heart valve. But I digress..

My grandfather went to meet with a heart surgeon. A Dr. woods I believe his name was. He was an older gentleman who had been doing these types of surgeries for a long time. When he went to his office with my grandmother for the consultation, the doctor spent more time talking about his time in the Air Force than he did about the surgery. Having been in the service himself, My grandfather was a sea bee, he ate it up. He never asked the doctor any tough questions… like what is the negative outcome of a surgery like this and he left the surgeons office feeling confident that it would be a text book case.

It wasn’t.

In the beginning of december, he went in to the hospital and had a surgery that lasted 5 hours. We were told the surgery went well and all was good. He was supposed to be in the hospital for 10 days following the surgery so he could recover.

Then the problems began.

While recovering in the CICU, he was never allowed to get more than a few minutes rest before a nurse was coming in to prick something, get a sample of something, take a blood pressure, etc. He was unable to eat after his surgery and a feeding tube was inserted down his nose and into his stomach to give him nurishment.  He was scheduled for tests on a friday and they turned off the food. The test was never performed that day and wouldn’t be able to be performed until monday at the earliest, so logically you’d turn the guys food back on for the weekend, right? No. Apparently not.

My mother and grandmother asked over and over why he wasn’t being fed and were basically told it was no big deal. He can go days without food. Really? I’d like to see those nurses and doctors get major surgery and then not eat for 4 days. Wonder what their outcome would be.

I went up to see him on a wed. afternoon. He was weak and tired, but also managed to have a good 1/2 hr conversation with me. We’d talk a few minutes and he’d basically fall asleep and then wake up and start talking to me again. I told my mother and grandmother that he looked like a guy who needed 2 solid days of sleep and they agreed. However, he was never allowed that luxury. There were nurses and therapists in there constantly.

Eventually the feeding tube was removed and he was given the ok to eat solid food. This lead to a new round of problems. Somehow he aspirated. We aren’t sure if it was on food, some reflux after eating or it could have even just been his own saliva. This led to a case of aspirated pneumonia.

Suddenly he’s running a fever and he’s given antibiotics, etc. The next thing we know, he’s crashing. His breathing was so labored, his heart went into distress. The doctors and nurses worked on him for hours, put him on a ventilator, a ton of different drugs and moved him upstairs to the ICU.

He spent several days up there, getting bags of blood, fresh frozen plasma and tons of medicine. All we kept hearing was how sick he was.  How tired he was. How he was in a weakened state. Well, no duh. You try getting open heart surgery and then getting next to no food or sleep for 2 weeks following and see how you do.

About a week or so went by and he started to show some improvement. My grandfather is a tough guy. He’s a fighter. They don’t make men like him anymore. It was determined that he would move to an on campus rehab called Altec. We had a lot of hope that he would get the care he needed down there and was now on the road to recovery. Boy were we wrong!

While down there, they did wean him off the ventilator, but the nurses would drag sheets on the floor and then cover my grandfather with them. When they came in to do things, like change his bed linen, they’d put them on top of the infectious disease garbage cans. It was a horror show down there of epic proportions. The nurses were supposed to be getting him out of bed twice a day so his lungs could drain and he’d get stronger, but they’d only do it once and when my grandmother complained and said a doctor had written an order for twice, they’d leave him in the chair for hours because “they didn’t have time to get him out of bed twice a day”.

He also managed to catch MRSA down there. I wonder if that has anything to do with the way they put things on top of garbage cans, and then on top of him.

Then one day they had him in the chair before my grandmother got there and he fell out of the chair, onto the hard floor.  No tests were ever performed to see if he hurt anything. If he’d hit his head. He sat in bed the whole day looking like a scared rabbit and then that very night, he crashed again.

Hours and hours of work by multiple doctors and now he’s back up in CICU with a ventilator, tubes, a temporary pace maker and a huge step backwards.

For the record, I should state that he’s now been in the hospital for over 1 month. A far cry from 10 days.

I took my grandmother to the hospital that night. We met with some PA’s who advised my grandmother that her husband was a mess and that he was looking at “no meaningful recovery” as an outcome. Which basically meant he might recover, might get off the ventilator again, might be able to eat and stand, but would be doing it in a nursing home. He’d never go home and mow the lawn again.

My grandmother and I talked for a long time. About how that’s not the life he wanted. How if he wasn’t coming out of this hospital healthy and able to do for himself, he wouldn’t want to live. He even had a living will that said the same things.

She began to come to terms with what needed to be done. That the right choice was to make him comfortable and help him on his way to heaven. Then we ran into Dr. Woods in the hallway.

He starts telling my grandmother not to give up hope now! That he’d said my grandfather would most likely need a pace maker and that he could still recover from all this. So the hours we spent discussing her options, the time it took to help her be ok with the decision she needed to make, went right out the window.

I was MAD and I was rather short with Dr. Woods. I told him that we were told there would be no meaningful recovery. That the man was a mess and he wasn’t even able to move his bowels. When they did an x-ray to see if the feeding tube was in a good position, you could see the stool in his intestines, that’s how much waste he had built up in his system. I calmly, but firmly let him have it.

He looked at me as if no one had ever spoken to him like that and sprinted back to the cicu to “assess” my grandfather.  My grandmother is in her 80’s. She doesn’t move as fast as she did in her younger years. She gets around fine, just a little slower. So by the time we got to the room, he was already leaving. He was in there no more than 2-3 minutes “assessing”.

He started grilling me for information. Who told my grandmother there was no hope? I said it was a PA named John Smith and my grandfathers “pet pa” I forget her name now. Andrea I think. He flies into a rage about how they had no right to tell my grandmother it was the end, that she shouldn’t give up hope now and then he left. He never said why we shouldn’t give up hope. Just that we shouldn’t.

My take on it was he wanted to be able to bill him for the pace maker he insisted he would need since right after the surgery was performed.

My grandfather spent the next 2 weeks in CICU, being poked, prodded, tested, tubed.. you name it, he had it done.

They successfully weaned him off the ventilator again and he spent 8 days unvented and was even talking to my grandmother. Even though at that point, she knew he’d never be able to come home, she became hopeful again that she at least wouldn’t lose him completely. It’s tough when you spend 63 years with someone, to let them go. Now it was just a waiting game of hoping he got strong enough to at least go into an assisted living facility.

He was doing really well those 8 days. We were all shocked at how well.

Then on thursday they turned off his feeding again. They made him lie flat all day, not something recommended for someone still getting over pneumonia, because they wanted to do a cat scan of his abdomen. The hours rolled by and it was determined that they wouldn’t be able to fit him in that day, they’d do it the next day. My grandmother asked if they would turn his feeding back on and she was told no. That after the test in the morning they’d do it.

That night, he crashed again.

Even though by that point, my grandmother had a Do Not Recusitate order, they put him back on the ventilator, more tubes and wires and kept him going.

The whole family rushed up to the hospital because we figured this would be the day we’d pump him full of drugs, make him comfortable and turn off the machines. But that didn’t happen.

You’d think after everything he’d been through, he’d just be laying there, unresponsive, but he wasn’t. He woke up, communicated with us the best he could with a ventilator down his throat and indicated that he didn’t want to die. Who would if they were asked that question?

So even though he’s looking at spending the rest of his life hooked up to machines, needing constant nursing care, etc. That’s what he wants now. My grandmother was livid that the doctor put him back on the ventilator even though she’d told them not to, to just let him pass if his time came. The doctor claimed the computer told him that it was ok. That everything else said no, but the ventilator still said yes.

At one point in the day, my father was speaking privately with the nurse that was caring for my grandfather that day. He asked her why they do these kinds of surgeries on people who are 83 years old. After all, a lot of us don’t even make it that long to begin with. Why put an 83 yr old man through all this torture?

Her answer may surprise you. She said it was because it was just another pay day. That if the surgery goes well, the doctor is a hero. If it goes bad, oh well. On to the next one. The doctor makes a ton of cash, the hospital makes a ton of cash… and everyone is happy. Except for the poor guy they end up torturing and ultimately killing.

I can only imagine what all this is costing. After close to 2 months bouncing between CICU, then ICU then Altec, then back to CICU, it’s got to be bordering on a million dollars.  One nurse told my grandmother it’s $3500 a day just to be in the CICU. That doesn’t include the daily xrays, the medicine, the tubes, the vent, the on and on and on they have been doing to him. And for what? Certainly not so he can ever go home again and live his life. To see the sun and hear the birds.

It’s so they can bill his medicare and aarp insurance for tests, procedures, medicines, doctors and a ton of other things that are totally unnecessary to do to an 83 yr old guy in his condition.

Before we can fix insurance, before we can get everyone to see a doctor when they are sick, we need to fix the healthcare system itself. Somewhere along the line, compassion was taken out of the equation and now it’s all about money. How much can I charge you for all this? I don’t care if you die, just so long as the check clears.

And don’t fool yourself here. If you’re a tax payer, YOU are footing the bill for this. This is all going to be paid for through YOUR tax dollars. Medicare is paying for it all and the “donut hole” insurance picks up the rest.

So for all the nonsense I hear about government getting between you and your doctor. Someone obviously has to.  Not to deny you life saving surgery, but to tell doctors and nurses and hospitals that they need to put systems in place where you aren’t going to make your patients sicker than when they came in, just to squeeze every last cent out of their insurance.

What happened to my grandfather is a sin… and I hope Doctor Woods enjoys his vacation this year knowing that because he never discussed the down side with my grandfather and spent the whole time talking about being in the service, that he didn’t prepare him for what could have and ultimately did end up happening. In the end he’s going to end up dead… or worse.. he’s going to wish he was, but unable to die due to the machines they have him attached to and don’t seem to want to unhook. Because even with a DNR order, they did it anyway.

All I can hope for is that some day, Dr. Woods is in my grandfathers position. That he’s given incompetent care and has a tube in every hole of his body. I hope when his wife is told it’s the end, some asshole just like him shows up and tells her not to do it, to keep him going another few weeks so they can milk his insurance. That would be the ultimate justice. I guess for now, I can only hope he meets the same end as my grandfather.

Brown Win In Massachusetts Sounds The Death Knell For Democrats?

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

So yesterday Massachusetts held a special election to replace the late Senator Edward Kennedy. This is historically one of the bluest states in the country, so all the talking heads on tv were carrying on about how the seat going red means bad things for the democrats and their agenda.

For month, the democrats have been trying to get a health care reform bill written. I think the best incarnation of this bill was the original one. Before things had to get modified and stripped to appease all the people they needed to vote on it. Instead of it being true reform, it’s basically just turned into a huge bonus for the insurance companies. Mandating that people buy insurance, telling insurance companies they have to cover people with pre-existing conditions, etc.. but then not putting any kind of limits on what they can charge for policies wasn’t reform. Not in any way, shape or form.

Now fast forward to this election. If anything, this was a HUGE opportunity for them to sneak out the back door on this issue. Allowing a republican to grab that seat borders on brilliance. This way, they don’t have to pass this bill that is just down right awful now and they can all point their fingers at Brown and say, “It’s all his fault! You never got the reform you wanted because the republicans wouldn’t allow it!” Since most people have short memories, they’ll say.. Hey. Yeah! The dems were working away on that and the republicans stopped it cold. They won’t remember that the bill they are going to pass, has no public option, no limits on the costs, nothing to really help the people who aren’t insured, get insurance and see a dr. Pure genius letting that seat go red.

On to the fact that all I’ve been hearing lately is how 2 democratic governorships went red, this senate seat went red, and all that equals the american people getting fed up with dems and their policies.

Let me take a moment to remind everyone that New jersey was a huge mess. They have a massive debt load as well as the highest taxes in the country! The roads are awful. Yet they love spending money down there on nonsense like high paid city and state workers and officials. Someone drank the green kool aid and thinks they poop money now the way they spend it. Unfortunately it’s the tax payers who are funding all this massive spending with no end in sight.

So imagine if you will, that you live in NJ and your property taxes are $14,000 a year.  You’re paying an outrageous mortgage on a 50 yr old house that needs constant repairs on top of it. Your car insurance is outrageous and that there’s so many people on the road, that it takes 1/2 an hr to drive to a store 5 minutes from your house.

When election time comes, who are you going to vote for? The guy who’s been running things all along or a new guy in the hopes he can fix some of the crap you have to deal with every day of your life? Forget what party either of them are representing.  That’s not part of the equation at all. Of course you are going to go for the new guy. Status quo you know. And it sucks.

California has a Republican governor. Do you seriously think he’ll get re-elected when he runs again? They could put bo bo the trained seal on the ticket next to him and bo bo is going to win.

People are tired of the status quo. I think that’s the thing these politicians and talking heads on tv are totally missing. We are going to vote for the new guy in every election until someone actually gets it in washington. It’s not about huge corporations sending you on free trips to their beach house. It’s about representing the american people. That’s why you have your job. You are OUR voice. You are there to say, Hey.. maybe dumping chemicals in the river from the acme factory is a bad thing and we need to pass environmental protection laws. Maybe paying $4 a gallon for gas is a bad thing and we need to pass some more green energy initiatives. Maybe having kids graduate high school with a 5th grade education isn’t good and we need to make sure education is properly funded and encouraged. Maybe!

These things are no brainers to us. But all the life politicians in washington are insulated from the problems of us “common folk”. When do you think the last time was they even pumped their own gas or had to cut back somewhere so they could afford to pay the electric bill that just went up 50% for no real reason other than greed? When was the last time your senator ate hotdogs and kraft mac and cheese for dinner? I bet none of them could even answer those questions. If you go to a town hall meeting and ask, they will stare at you blankly and might even ask.. what is kraft mac and cheese???

See, it’s so far beyond republicans and democrats and tea partiers at this point. No one in washington gets YOU. No one feels the trials and tribulations of life like we do, because they are not forced to live them like we are. They make back room deals that screw you and put money in their corporate sponsors pockets and they smile and shake hands on tv almost as if they are laughing right in your face.

I’ve never agreed with republican policies. They are to focused on war, nation building, giving tax cuts to the rich all the while stepping on the little guy. But somehow they manage to get huge outpourings of support from the type of people that should be running the other way when a republican comes towards them. They are masters at getting the american people to vote against their own self interests.

But even though I’ve always leaned democratic, I’m starting to get fed up with them too. There are far to many social programs out there that are abused by people for life. They don’t work a day for what they have. They just get sec 8 to pay for their house, food stamps, welfare, WIC, etc etc. all while dealing drugs or some other illegal activity. I see these people at the store all the time. They have more jewelry and expensive clothes than I could ever afford and I work for a living! They put their cart full of soda, chips and junk food on the belt and pay with their food stamp card, so I know they aren’t working for what they’ve got.

On top of that, when it comes to actually helping people as in this health care reform bill.. they waffle under 2 seconds of pressure and strip out anything that could actually be called reform. It seems to be the liberal way. Oh no! I can’t have you mad at me! Of course I’ll take that public option right out of there so you’ll be my friend again. I never really cared about helping people. I just want all the politicians to like me!

Unfortunately in life, you’re never going to have everyone like you.. no matter what you do. So sometimes your best option to get things done that need to be done, is sticking your boot up someones ass. Trust me, they still won’t like you, but now they’ll respect you.

This election is the most recent, but it won’t be the last that votes out the status quo and gets some fresh blood in. The american people are tired of being screwed over and we are going to vote and vote and vote until someone gets the job that really gets us. At least I hope we do.

Divided We Fall.. Or How To Precipitate The Downfall Of America

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

I’ve really disconnected myself from the news lately. I’ll read stories about “happenings” such as flooding or that “balloon boy” hoax. But overall I’ve been trying to stay away from all the cnn, msnbc and especially fox that I used to watch or be exposed to while my hubby watched it.

Even in my disconnected state, I still pick up things such as how Obama won the Nobel peace prize and how everyone bashed on him for it. Seriously? I mean. I’m not saying the guy fixed everything in the 10 months he’s been in office, but he’s totally changed the tone our government is saying to the rest of the world.

I mean, let’s be honest here. When Bush went to meet with world leaders, they knew he wasn’t there to be diplomatic. He was there to remind everyone that we have lots of weapons, and we just a LOVE usin’ ‘em! The last 8 years was about waging wars and nation building. Obama doesn’t seem to be interested in pushing the war machine forward quite as fast.

Seems reasonable then, that the people judging that award, recognized the fact that without him being our newly elected leader… there is no telling how many people may have been killed or how many more fronts we are looking to wage wars.

Well anyway, I got off on a tangent there. My point basically was that no matter what President Obama does, says, wins.. there’s this huge chorus of people attacking him for it. Everyone forgets that the last 8 years fucked up shit so royally, that it’s probably going to take obama 8 years to fix it all.

Somehow with the democrats winning the last election, came a wave of hatred from the Republicans side that I never realized existed. The talking heads they have on tv are just the nastiest people I’ve ever seen. They stir up disdain and tell people outright lies about the government and have half the country ready to revolt.

So I have to ask.. To what end? What is the purpose of this? All you are doing is weakening our standing in the world by trashing our president like you do. The world is losing confidence in our country as a world leader. Our dollars value is crashing.

Throughout history, the easiest way to control people, is to get them to hate each other. If they are busy killing each other, they have no time to worry about what the government is doing.

We are taking our eye off the prize people. Hating each other doesn’t work. We are americans. We are supposed to be hang tough people who band together for the common good. That’s the kind of spirit we need now!

Instead of bashing President Obama for wanting to have more community volunteers, see what you can do to help out in your community. Even if it’s just something simple like adding a few cans of soup to a food banks shelf.

Somewhere along the way, our American Spirit was lost. We lost our charity, our hope, our honor.. and we replaced it with hate and dishonor. We’ve entered a time where an elected official will interupt the President while he’s addressing them and the nation and disrespect him by calling him a Liar. Where an honors student can’t walk down the street without having his head bashed in for no reason by a pack of animals…who just happen to be other teenagers his age.

Where did our civility go? Where did our sense of doing the right thing go? What has become of us?

It really makes me sad to see my country in the state it is in now. So divided. So full of violence and hate.

Imagine if all that energy, could be refocused on improving our country instead of destroying it.

Why is something like free healthcare, or free college or any number of other programs that would actually help us to grow as a society, labeled as bad for us?? Bashed in the media. Torn down and made to seem like the worst thing that could ever happen to us? It’s utter lunacy. You know you want to go to the Doctor when you get sick! You know having a college degree will get you a better job. Why on earth would you be against things like that? Honestly! Sit and ask yourself what harm would come from you being better educated or healthier? Because I’ll be damned if I understand it.

If we want to see our American Dream flushed right down the toilet, then keep on truckin’ right down the road we are on now. Keep listening to all the hate mongers on Fox News telling you that the government is evil and wants to control you by giving you things to improve your life. But know at the end of the day that people like Glenn Beck and Bill O’rielly are laughing at how easy it is to lie to you and get you to believe it. I guess the old P.T. Barnum quote still holds true. There is a sucker born every minute and if you’re bad mouthing our president and doing everything you can to see him “fail” you are that sucker.

The Problem With America’s Health Care Industry Is Insurance Companies!

Monday, September 14th, 2009

So I read an article on cnn today. It was about how doctors are leaving their practices is droves.

I bet you’re saying, but we have a huge problem with lack of doctors in America! We can’t afford to lose any of them! And you’d be right. One of the arguments I see on TV against the health care reform that Barack Obama wants to institute is that there aren’t enough doctors to go around! But why is that?

Well, according to this article, doctors are paid as much by insurance companies today, as they were 15 years ago. Now, call me crazy, but when I look around at what things cost, I can’t buy ANYTHING as cheaply as I did 15 years ago. Why is health care the exception?

Oh but it’s not. Health care costs have skyrocketed. It’s just that insurance companies don’t pay their fair share.

So why is it that consumers insurance policies to cover them and ensure they can go to see doctors has skyrocketed? They claim it’s because the cost of care has skyrocketed… but doctors say they aren’t getting any of that money!

To add insult to injury, their malpractice insurance is something like $150,000 a year. Sounds like double dipping to me! Not only will they not pay the doctors for their services, they gouge them to cover them in case something goes amiss.

One doctor was saying that if a patient comes in with an ailment, he must first contact the insurance company and get approval to treat this individual. This can take days and in the case of some obvious medical condition, could lead to the doctor being sued for not taking immediate action.

But wait, I thought that the gov’t only wanted to get between you and your doctor! Sounds like a load of horse shit to me. If anyone is getting between you and your doctor, it’s private insurance companies!

It’s no wonder there’s so much misinformation floating around right now. Telling people their quality of care is going to decline. That government death panels will deny you care and that the doctor shortage is going to leave you high and dry when you need care… because insurance companies are precipitating that exact senario RIGHT NOW!

When highly trained and seasoned doctors are leaving their professions to make jewelry because they can’t pay their bills anymore, that has to give you pause. No government program or officials are causing this to happen. Greedy insurance companies are.

But… Who trains all these doctors in the first place? I found that a rather funny answer. It’s the government. Medicare pays out over $9 Billion a year to train doctors to meet our nations health care needs. While they are doing this, insurance companies are driving experienced doctors out of business.

Don’t forget… it’s Obamacare that you need to fear. Not the compassionate, caring insurance companies that deny insured people the care need every day. Sure..Right.

I keep hearing about how we need to wake up to what our government is doing and I completely agree. THEY ARE TRYING TO HELP US!!!!!! They are trying to protect us from greedy companies who don’t care about you. They care about the almighty dollar and nothing else.

So PLEASE! Wake up! Educate yourself to what is REALLY happening. Who REALLY has your best interests at heart and it isn’t some cold blooded, uncaring health insurance executive. He’s got his and he wants to make sure he’s got yours too.

For reference, this is the article I read on cnn.com. Educate yourself america. Knowledge is the most powerful tool imaginable!

Fight for your rights. Your right to live is worth fighting for! Don’t let false propaganda from greedy insurance companies rob you of that right!

Just A Rant For Today…

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

I think the republicans sure know how to energize their base. Unfortunately their base seems to be the violent, ignorant type.

My dad is a republican. If I had a nickle for every time he told me he hated obama and wants to see him dead, I’d be a millionaire.

I listen to him carry on about how Glenn beck tells it like it is, but when I point out to him things like that green czar guy. I forget his name. I honestly didn’t pay much attention to him.. but anyway. Glenn spent 2 full weeks railing on the guy. Digging through his past. Finding anything he could to discredit him and make him look like a dangerous individual. Well, Glenn didn’t do that because he was protecting america. He did it because that guy founded the group that was pressuring Glenns sponsors to drop him.

Ok.. I went and looked it up on cnn. This is the part of the article that I’m talking about..
Quote:
One of the most prominent conservative voices condemning Jones in recent days has been FOX TV host Glenn Beck.

Jones is a co-founder of colorofchange.org, a group that recently has been pressing advertisers to boycott Beck’s program after Beck called Obama a racist.

So again. It’s not about helping america at all. It was a personal vendetta.

The republicans are the best party at dirty tricks. They have fox news and the intellectually challenged members of our country watch it religiously. Did you know that they actually won a lawsuit brought against them by a reporter they fired? She did a story about monsanto. A VERY scary company. And they wouldn’t let it run. So she ends up fired and sued. The court ruled that it’s not breaking any laws for news channels to not tell the truth. Uh… So I dunno about fair and balanced.

So then we have all these tea party people. I was looking at pics of them today. I saw more confederate flags than I care to see in one day.. and hmm… NO black people. None. I couldn’t find one in any picture. There were plenty of kids holding up anti-obama signs. Ya know.. the same kids we don’t want listening to the president tell them to stay in school and get good grades because it’s indoctrination.

Honestly. The biggest problem is we liberals just sit back and take this bullshit. We “take the high road”. We say, Oh that’s not true. There are no gov’t death panels. (which is really laughable to me, because how many insurance companies have told people they won’t pay for their care.. i.e. people with insurance face death panels every day already, it’s just insurance company death panels). But no one hears us because we aren’t o’reilly or beck or rush, screaming it every single day. I said today, there is NO liberal rush, o reilly or beck. We have no one to whip us up into a frenzy like they do. I guess mostly because liberals tend to be better educated and we don’t need someone to tell us what to think. I don’t know about you, but I don’t watch much tv news at all. I read newspapers and watch a little cnn here and there. I keep myself informed, but I’m not glued to the tv every night watching fox news like my dad and 1/2 the country.

Today, my husband was telling me we need to get involved. Now, I do write to my congressmen. Carney, Specter and Casey. I wrote to them about cap and trade and told them I didn’t agree with it. And I actually got a response from casey and specter. They were form letters, basically telling me thanks, but we are going to do what we are going to do.. But I’ve written several times about health care and gotten nothing. Not even the typical form letter back saying, oh thanks. But we are going to do what we want anyway.

But I think what he meant was we need to start organizing people. The republicans are masters at getting people upset over nonsense. They wrap themselves in the flag and proclaim that they are the only patriots. They use it to lead the simple minded into doing what they want. Which is usually more for the rich and less for the poor.

My dad carrys on about health care.. How it’s going to be for the black lady with 18 kids.. and I try to explain to him that that woman already gets free medical through medicaid. That this health care reform is for people who work, lose their insurance due to a job loss, have diabetes or high blood pressure and can’t get insurance when they get re-hired because of preexisting conditions. People who run small businesses and can’t afford to pay $2500 a month for a policy for him and his wife.. and it always comes back to the illegal aliens and the black lady with 18 kids.

I think unless you have a tv show on fox, republicans don’t hear you.
Maybe it’s just that critical thinking eludes them.

The Bush administration was the scariest presidency every. The patriot act destroyed our constitutional rights, but these tea party people are screaming about health care and obama destroying the constitution?

One thing this has taught me, is that when republicans lose, they lose hard.

Are Our Elected Officials Really This Cold Hearted?

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Last night I saw this video :

In it, the woman speaking to her Senator, Tom Coburn, R-Oklahoma, tells him that her husband has a traumatic brain injury and was basically kicked out of a nursing home and told they were on their own. This poor man has a feeding tube, can’t speak… and has insurance that is denying him the coverage he deperately needs.

Senator Coburns response is shocking to me. He tells her not to look to the government for help, but to look to her neighbors. Are you kidding me? Because we all have nurses and doctors living next door that are going to just “drop in” and assist this woman for free right? “Why on earth would you expect your government to have compassion and caring towards the “little people” lady. We don’t care about you.”, seems to be the message Senator Coburns is conveying. “Go see if there’s some bleeding heart liberals in your neighborhood to help you out and leave me alone!”

The irony is, he knows he’s been put on the spot and offers to help her and her husband. He tells her to get in touch with his office and he will see what he can do. I have to wonder how hard that was for him. To show fake compassion because he’s on tape and his constituents can all see how much of a heartless prick he really is if he doesn’t offer her some kind of help publicly.

So now, the government we shouldn’t turn to for help, that isn’t there to solve our problems.. Senator Coburn is offering to help her. So does that mean that every other person in america should call up Senator Coburn when their insurance companies deny them desperately needed help?

Maybe that’s just what should happen and then Senator Coburn may get a better idea of how many people are truly in desperate need of help. Maybe that’s what every american who’s been denied health care should do. Call your senators and ask them to hook you up with a doctor at their expense. Since the government isn’t the answer to your problems and you should turn to your neighbors.. and who do you know who’s more powerful in your neighborhood than your elected officials.

Somewhere along the line, the people we elect need to realize that they work for us and not the banks and insurance companies that give them huge contributions to help them get re-elected.

The same companies that charge us outrageous fees and deny us when we come to them for help. Everyone is yelling about the death panels in the governments health care bill, but didn’t this womans husband already face one from their insurance company? And they decided he wasn’t worth helping and sent him home with a feeding tube and absolutely no help.

Who are we supposed to turn to for help when these things happen? I was sure it was our elected officials. The people we gave big paychecks, tons of perks and oh yeah.. free health care paid by us. Not the guy who lives next door, that’s for sure.

Help thy neighbor is a noble cause, but when it comes to needing a kidney transplant, somehow I don’t think the auto mechanic next door is the best choice for me to turn to for help.

So this is to our Senators and Representatives who are against this health care bill… Get your heads out of your asses. The american people need your help and it’s your job to provide it. Quit bending to your corporate masters and do the job you were elected to do.

Do You Want Your Neighbors Goat To Die?

Monday, August 24th, 2009

There’s an old proverb.. I think it’s russian about 2 neighbors. One has a goat and the other does not. He hates his neighbor for having a goat while he goes without. One day he’s blessed by finding a genie who offers to grant him one wish. So obviously you’d think since he admires his neighbors goat so much, he’ll wish for his own, right? Wrong. He wishes that his neighbors goat will die. He wants his neighbor to be as miserable as he is. Lately I think that should be an american proverb.

What is wrong with us? We voted a guy into office to help fix the huge mess the last guy made and now it seems every time I turn on the tv all I hear is criticism of everything the guy does or wants to do. He wants to take his family on vacation and you’d think it was the worst thing any president had ever done. No one cares that Bush was on vacation something like 1200 days out of his presidency. Maybe that’s why he messed up so much shit? To busy cutting brush and throwing back a few beers.

But it seems like Obama can’t do anything right anymore. He wants to fix healthcare. Something we need desperately. But omg, they are going to unplug grandma. (something completely false) The gov’t failed running a brothel in nevada, what will it do to your health care? (omg…the gov’t never ran a brothel. Hello fact check) The gov’t could never run a successful health care plan… funny since the military get one and the seniors get one and the poor get one.. it’s just the rest of us in the middle who aren’t entitled? What’s up with that?

I keep hearing how all the stimulous money that’s out there to help us rebuild america.. ya know.. the crumbling roads and bridges that plummet into the rivers they are supposed to carry us over, is a huge waste and the gov’t should just cut us all a check for $10k. THAT will stimulate the economy! Really? And how are you going to get to the mall when the bridge near your house is out? Be sure to save some of that $10k to put new tires, shocks and do alignments on your car as you drive down the pot hole filled streets.

Oh but then everyone will cry that the gov’t isn’t doing enough for them. I want my $10k check AND a new bridge and I don’t want to pay 1 cent in taxes for it either!

Ok. Now you’re bordering on delusional.

I keep hearing about the cash for clunkers. Something like 650,000 cars were sold under that program. Sounds like a success to me. But then you have all these dealers crying because the money fairy didn’t appear with their reimbursement checks the next day. Especially after they filled out the paperwork incorrectly. One guy was crying about how he couldn’t meet payroll. Now wait a minute. You had 50 unsold cars on your lot. You sold them.. and now you can’t make payroll? How is that possible?

The average citizens complaining about it really crack me up because you know they are just people who didn’t qualify for the program. “I think it’s a waste of money”, they say on the news. Well, I guess no one in your family relies on getting a paycheck from the auto industry, right?

We gave trillions of our money that evaporated to banking institutions that have been raping us with high interest rates and bullshit fees for decades, and people are crying because the gov’t made it a little easier for middle class people to buy a car? Guess it’s lucky a car can’t die like a goat can or there would be a lot of dead cars if these people had their way.

Is there anything your gov’t can do to make the average american happy anymore?  Short of sending them a million dollar check every year so they can live in a mansion, drive a lexus and take lavish vacations… all while paying no taxes, it sure doesn’t seem like it.

Ya know.. when this country was founded, people sent money to help run it voluntarily. Today, you’d think the gov’t was asking for your first born to be able to provide you with schools for your kids, police to protect you and a road to get to the mall so you can buy another pair of crocs to jam your feet in.

Get your priorities in order people. Without a gov’t, where would you really be today? Would you even be able to read? You certainly wouldn’t be reading this because it was the gov’t that funded the internet and said it was important for all of us to be connected. But you’ll never hear something like that on fox news.

Quit wishing for your neighbors goat to die already. It’s embarrassing.

Paranoia Will Destroy Ya!

Friday, August 14th, 2009

So the past few weeks, there’s been a huge uproar about “obamacare” or what the rest of us call health care reform. If you’ve ever gone without insurance, or had insurance and couldn’t get them to pay for a procedure you needed, then you realize that something has to be done to rectify this situation.

We claim to be the best nation on earth, yet we have the worst access for health care in all the industrialized nations. We have the highest infant mortality rate, lower life expectancy and it’s all pretty sad when we pound our chests and say we have the “best” health care in the world.

Now, don’t misunderstand. I’m not out to bash the health care professionals here. That isn’t what this blog is about. It’s about the blood sucking insurance companies that have driven up costs, denied sick people care and lowered the standard of care people with insurance receive. Take for instance giving birth. When my mother had me, she stayed in the hospital for a week. Got extra care, advice on taking care of me, you name it. When I had my son, I popped him out at noon and was checked out the next day.  He almost died when I was giving birth to him as he was compressing his cord. Yet they couldn’t wait to kick me out the door… and I had insurance.

Imagine working a job, having health care and then getting diagnosed with diabetes or high blood pressure. Then your company down sizes and you get laid off. Ya know what is going to happen to you when you find a new job? You’re going to be denied insurance coverage because of “pre-existing conditions”. Congratulations. You just became one of the 50 million+ americans that are now without any coverage and it’s not going away unless someone as big and powerful as the government makes it happen.

I’ve been listening to all these people carry on about how they don’t want to pay more taxes, that we should all make our own way in the world and quit looking for a hand out. Is access to safe, affordable health care really a hand out? I didn’t realize it was.

I hear people screaming that it’s socialism, but these same people are on medicare or social security. Drive on a street paved by the state that receives money from the gov’t to pay for it. Have kids or grand kids that go to public schools. Drink clean water. Ride a bus, subway or even a plane. I bet you didn’t realize those things were subsidized by the gov’t too. Maybe they got a grant or a low interest rate on a student loan. Got a housing loan through FHA or the VA because they proudly served our country. Put money in a bank account that is federally insured or any number of things that we take totally for granted when we go through our every day lives.

The government does so much for us that we take for granted. Things that improve our lives and make them better. Why would them forcing insurance companies to quit raping consumers be so bad? Oh that’s right. It’s not. It’s just that all the right wingers want to see this president fail so badly, that they make up outright lies about the health care bills currently being discussed in washington.

Did you know sarah palin was complaining about how she didn’t want to have to go before a death panel to see if she would be entitled to a hip replacement or open heart surgery when she’s older? Well.. unless she’s planning on starting her own death panel, the current bills don’t contain anything of the sort. No one’s going to die because the gov’t won’t pay for a medical procedure. That’s what insurance companies do.

Insurance companies are spending $1.4 million dollars a DAY on lobbiests to go to washington and try to defeat this bill. I wonder. How many americans could get health insurance for that amount of money? I would have to think after you add all that money up, it’ll be quite a lot of them.

So honestly, when you sit down at night to watch the tv and drink your tasty beverage of choice, don’t believe the talking heads on tv telling you gov’t health care would be a horrible, socialist program that turns us into russia. American citizens already enjoy many programs that are ’socialist’ and no one is in the streets screaming about them.

If we can’t all have health care and it’s only for the rich, then this isn’t the country I thought it was when I was growing up. It’s become about greed instead of doing the right thing.. and it’s a shame.
